Many pollsters seemed to oscillate between predicting a clean sweep for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a hung house in the state of Tripura, where a new party the Tipra Motha may emerge as a potential king-maker in the polls, held a week back. but how many have got it right?

Interestingly, all pollsters had predicted BJP coming back to power in Tripura, but some predicted that Congress to draw a blank.

According to Axis My India, the BJP-led alliance will sweep the state of Tripura, winning 36-45 seats in the 60-member House. The Left, on the other hand, will win 6-11 seats, while the Congress won’t win any. The Tipra Motha Party (TMP), on the other hand, will win 9-16 seats, according to the poll.

The Matrize exit poll, on the other hand, predicted 29-36 seats for the BJP-led alliance, 13-21 for the Left and Congress alliance, and 11-16 for the TMP.

The TimesNow-ETG poll predicted 21-27 seats for BJP+ and 18-24 seats for the Left. Meanwhile, BJP to retain Tripura with 29-20 seats, predicted Jan Ki Baat.

The 2018 assembly polls saw the BIP-led NDA win a comfortable majority, bagging 44 of the 60 seats. BJP won 35 seats on its own, ending CPM-led Left Front’s 25-year hold on government. Congress, the main opposition party in the state since the 1970s, failed to win a single seat.
